EPA Set to Regulate Greenhouse Gases from Manufacturers On September 30, 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its proposed “tailoring rule” and outlined its regulations for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from large industrial facilities while establishing a process to begin regulation of smaller plants. ![]() U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln was the keynote speaker for the 81st Annual Meeting of the State Chamber/AIA, which was held on Monday, October 19th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock. Lincoln touched on a variety of topics including proposed health care reform, her continued opposition to the proposed Employee Free Choice Act, her opposition to the proposed House Cap-and-Trade Bill and her role as chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee. ![]() FURTHER REDUCING THE SALES TAX MANUFACTURERS PAY ON UTILITY COSTS – Governor Mike Beebe signs into law Acts 691 and 695, which further reduced the rate of the excise tax on utilities used by manufacturers from 4 percent to 3.25 percent effective July 1, 2009.
